Overview

Bögn is a municipality in the district of Blenio in the canton of Ticino in Switzerland. It is located in the Valle di Blenio and consists of the village of Dongio and the hamlets of Cumiasca, Loderio and Ponto Valentino.

History

The village of Dongio was first mentioned in historical records in 1210 as Donzio. Over the centuries, the village was ruled by various noble families, including the Rusca, Vistarini and Orelli families. In 2004, the municipalities of Dongio, Largario and Marolta merged to form the municipality of Bögn.

Geography

Bögn has an area of 26.6 square kilometers and is situated in the Valle di Blenio. The municipality includes the villages of Dongio, Cumiasca, Loderio and Ponto Valentino, as well as several smaller hamlets. Bögn is surrounded by the mountains of the Leventina Alps and is located at an altitude of 710 meters above sea level.
