History
The area around Beinwil am See has been inhabited since prehistoric times, as evidenced by several archaeological finds. The village itself was first mentioned in historical records in the 12th century as "Bunwile". It was part of the Habsburg territories until 1415, when it was conquered by the Old Swiss Confederacy.
