History
The area of Guggisberg has been inhabited since prehistoric times, as evidenced by the discovery of various artifacts. During the Middle Ages, the area was part of the lands of the Counts of Kyburg. In 1406, the territory was acquired by the city of Bern and Guggisberg became part of the municipality of Seftigen. It became an independent municipality in 1834.
