Overview
Lavin is a municipality in the district of Inn in the canton of Grisons, Switzerland. It is situated in the Lower Engadin valley, which is the western part of the Engadin valley. The village of Lavin is located at the entrance of the side valley of the Spöl river, which leads to Livigno, Italy.
History
The first recorded mention of Lavin dates back to 1299. The village was originally settled by Romansh-speaking people, who were gradually displaced by German-speaking settlers from the Upper Valais region in the 16th century.
