History
The first historical record of Liebistorf dates back to 1201 when it was mentioned as "Lutolvisdorf". Throughout its history, Liebistorf was part of the Bishopric of Lausanne and later the Canton of Bern. In 1848, it became part of the newly-formed Canton of Fribourg.
