Overview

Courrendlin is a municipality in the district of Delémont in the canton of Jura, Switzerland. It has a population of around 2,800 people and covers an area of 7.63 square kilometers. The municipality is located in the central part of the Jura Mountains, close to the city of Delémont.

History

The earliest evidence of human settlement in the area dates back to the Neolithic period. In the Middle Ages, the village of Courrendlin was part of the lordship of Delémont. In 1793, it became part of the newly created district of Delémont in the canton of Bern. It only became part of the canton of Jura when it was formed in 1979.

Geography

Courrendlin is situated at an elevation of 443 meters above sea level. The municipality consists of several small villages and hamlets, including Courrendlin, Bas-du-Village, En-Vieille-Ville, Les Jolimonts and Les Granges. The Couronne de la Breule mountain range dominates the landscape to the east of the municipality.

Courrendlin has a population of around 2,800 people, with a density of 366 inhabitants per square kilometer. The population has been steadily increasing in recent years, due to the municipality's proximity to Delémont and its growing economy.
