Creste is a municipality in the district of Bellinzona in the canton of Ticino, Switzerland. It is situated on the east side of the river Ticino valley and is surrounded by steep mountains covered with chestnut and oak trees. The municipality includes the villages of Bioggio, Camignolo and Cremenaga.

History

The first historical records of Creste date back to the 12th century. Throughout history, the municipality was under the rule of various feudal lords until it became a part of the Swiss Confederation in 1803.

Creste has an area of 11.2 square kilometers and is located at an altitude of 395 meters above sea level. The municipality is situated in the southern part of the canton of Ticino and borders Italy to the south.
