Overview

Feraila is a village located in the district of Surselva, in the canton of Grisons, Switzerland. The village is situated in the Rhine valley, between the towns of Ilanz and Disentis and is known for its beautiful natural surroundings and its proximity to several popular ski resorts.

History

The history of Feraila dates back to the Middle Ages, when it was part of the lands of the Bishop of Chur. In the 14th century, the village came under the control of the Lords of Sax-Misox, who built a castle on the hill above the village. During the Reformation, Feraila became a Protestant village and in the 19th century, it became part of the newly created canton of Grisons.

Feraila is located in the Surselva district, in the canton of Grisons, Switzerland. It is situated in the Rhine valley, at an elevation of 889 meters (2,917 feet) above sea level. The village is surrounded by mountains, including Piz Mundaun and Piz Grisch and is located near the confluence of the Glenner and Vorderrhein rivers.

As of 2021, Feraila has a population of approximately 250 people. The majority of the population speaks Romansh, a Rhaeto-Romance language spoken in the Grisons region.
