History

Kerzers has a rich history dating back to the Roman times, as it was situated on the Roman road that connected Aventicum (modern-day Avenches) with Augusta Raurica (modern-day Augst). The village was first mentioned in written records in 994 AD as Chercier, which was later changed to Kerzers. Over the centuries, Kerzers has been part of various territories and jurisdictions, including the Prince-Bishopric of Lausanne and the Canton of Bern.

Kerzers is situated on a plain in the Broye valley, at an altitude of approximately 480 meters. The municipality is bordered by Lake Murten to the west and the Sense river to the east.
