History
The area of present-day Landquart has been inhabited since prehistoric times. The Romans established a military camp here in the 1st century AD, which was later used as a trading post. The town of Landquart was first mentioned in historical records in 1149 as "Lantquarta". Throughout its history, the town has been part of various territories and jurisdictions, including the bishopric of Chur, the County of Toggenburg and the Austrian Habsburgs. In the 19th century, the town became an important transportation hub with the construction of the railway through the Rhine Valley.
