The first mention of Latsch dates back to the 14th century, when it was known as Lach. The village was inhabited by Romansh-speaking Walser people who migrated from the Swiss canton of Valais. Latsch was part of the parish of St. Martin until 1526, when it became an independent parish. The village was devastated by a fire in 1668, which destroyed most of the buildings.
