Overview

Rohr is a municipality in the district of Solothurn in the canton of Solothurn, Switzerland. It is located in the northwestern part of the canton, close to the border with the canton of Aargau.

History

The earliest written record of Rohr dates back to the 9th century, when it was known as "Rore". During the Middle Ages, Rohr was part of the Kyburg dynasty and later became a subject of the city of Solothurn. In 1798, Rohr became part of the Helvetic Republic and later joined the canton of Solothurn in 1803.

Geography

Rohr covers an area of 7.09 square kilometers and is located at an altitude of 436 meters above sea level. The municipality is situated on the southern slope of the Jura Mountains and is bordered by the municipalities of Bellach, Zuchwil and Biberist. The Biber river runs through Rohr.
